Harry V. Hayes, 85, of Carrollton, formerly of Hardin, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Life Care Center in Carrollton.
Harry was born in Orrick on Oct. 8, 1922, the son of Lowe V. and Minerva J. (Fields) Hayes. He married Sarah K.Yoakum on Feb. 1, 1947; she preceded him in death Aug. 27, 2002.
Harry served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He had worked for Bendix Corp. and was a farmer until he retired in 1982.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dean Hayes and his wife, Lynn, of Hardin; one daughter, Katherine F. Daley, of Lexington; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, May 23, at Mt. Pleasant Church in rural Hardin. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church and will be officiated by John Mahler. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in rural Hardin.
Pallbearers will be Paul Hayes, Christopher Morton, Dustin Morton, Blake Wrisinger, Alex O’Dell and Calvin O’Dell.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kolkmeyer Funeral Home in Wellington.
