Velma Margaret Milligan, 96, of Gladstone, formerly of rural Richmond, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, at North Kansas City Hospital.
Velma was born May 1, 1912, in Berne, Neb., the daughter of John and Dolly Marsh Wiley. Velma married Mitchell J. Milligan. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2007. Velma and Mitchell farmed for many years in the Richmond area. She was a member of the RLDS Church in Richmond.
Survivors include: one son, Maurice Milligan, and one daughter, Kathleen Wilson, both of Richmond; three sisters, Edna Summers, Pauline Sperry and Helen Smith; one brother, Paul Wiley; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, four children, Marilyn Rogers, John E. Milligan, LeAnn Reddell and Don Milligan, four grandchildren, two sisters, Cordie Jeschke and Nellie Chestnut, and one brother, Leo Wiley, preceded her in death.
Memorials may be made to the New Hope Cemetery in Stet.
There is no scheduled visitation, though friends may call at the Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, May 22. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 23, at New Hope Cemetery in Stet.
