Forrest R. Backs, 81, of Warrensburg, formerly of Lexington, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Backs was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Lexington, the son of John Henry Backs and Tillie Graupner Backs. He married Joan L. Giorza on Aug. 26, 1951, in Lexington. Forrest was the warehouse manager for Missouri Public Service.
Survivors include: three son and daughters-in-law, Bob Backs and his wife, Jana, of Lexington, Bill Backs and his wife, Diane, of Leawood, Kan., and Randy Backs and his wife, Christine of Lexington; five grandchildren, Jessica, Stefania, Cosmina, Nicole and Stephen; two sisters, Doris Fitchett of Chillicothe, Mary E. Guevel of Gladstone; and one sister-in-law, Gwen Backs of Liberty.
His parents, his wife, Joan, on Jan. 5, 1974, and one brother, Howard, preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the Lexington Elks Lodge.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lexington.
