Fern Lillard, 77, of Excelsior Springs, and formerly of Richmond, went to be with the Lord at 10:48 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008, at her home in Excelsior Springs.
Fern was born on July 18, 1930 in Camden, to Oscar and Veta (Booth) Yallaly. She married Morris “Bud” Lillard of Swanwick, on Oct. 9, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2002.
Fern was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Richmond Garden Club. She was a homemaker. She worked at the Richmond School District, Ray County Circuit Clerk’s Office, Lake City Arsenal, Sears in Kansas City and National Bella Has. She was a 1948 graduate of Camden High School.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Paul Brian and Sharon Lillard of Warrensburg; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda Sue and Mike Kelley of Excelsior Springs, and Peggy Diann and Dick Snyder of Godfrey, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Grant Kelley, Jonathan Kelley and wife, Kelly, Jessica Lillard, Jennifer Lillard, Haley Lillard, Adam Snyder and wife, Sara, Blake Snyder and Kelly Czarnecki and husband, Larry; two great grandchildren; Zane Czarnecki and Miles Czarnecki; two brothers, Ralph Yallaly of Smithville, and Doris Yallaly of Lexington; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Kathleen Spor of Prathersville, and Betty and Sam Gowing of Richmond. Fern is also survived by a special friend, Barbara Lewis, caregivers and friends, Ella Davis and Janice Lewis.
In addition to her parents and husband, Fern was preceded in death by one son, Morris Brent Lillard and one brother, Harold Yallaly.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church or to the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs.
Visitation will be Monday, May 19, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 20, at 10 a.m. at the Richmond First Baptist Church.
Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery, Richmond.
