Mildred Mae Bookasta, 90, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the Lexington Care Center.
Mildred was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Malta Bend, the daughter of Marion Edgar Sailor and Burkie Coleman. Her family moved to Lexington in 1927, where she graduated from Lexington High School in 1936.
Survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Renee Minter and her husband, Jim, of Parker, Colo., Mary Margaret Stinnett and her husband, Keith, of Blue Springs, and Jamelia Anderson and her husband, Bill, of Springfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe Bookasta and his wife, Jean, of Lee’s Summit; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one step-sister, Eilene Swartz, of Lexington.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Joe, preceded her in death in 1965.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington with a Rosary at 8:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lexington.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington.
