Dorothy E. Proffitt, 90, of Excelsior Springs, died at 7:25 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Shirkey Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Mrs. Proffitt was born Oct. 19, 1917, in Richmond, the daughter of Butler W. and Emma L. (Derstler) Ware. She married Donald Wayne Proffitt of Norborne, on Aug. 31, 1940; he preceded her in death on April 23, 2008.
Survivors include: one grandson and spouse, Chris Wayne Rauchle and his wife, Stacy, of Independence; one granddaughter, Christina Rauchle of Liberty; one son-in-law, Chris William Rauchle and his wife, Georgia, of Kearney; four great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Mercedes, Ciarra and Zachary; and one great-great granddaughter, Makenna.
In addition to her parents and husband, her daughter, Marilyn Rose Rauchle, and sister, Mary Vance, preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the New Hope Cemetery in Hardin.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Hardin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
