Thomas Glenn Lewellen, 56, of Richmond, died at 4:10 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2008, at his home.
Thomas was born March 2, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Glenn Gerald and Leona (Phaff) Lewellen. He married Helen Griffin of Tipton, on May 24, 1975; she survives of the home.
Thomas and Helen had been stationed at different locations during his years in the service and had spent the past 11 years in Texas before moving back home to Missouri in January. After the service, Thomas was a maintenance man for various apartment management companies. He was a member of the Bethel Church in Polo.
Additional survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Wendy Cook and her husband, Brent, of Corsicana, Texas, and Crystal Lewellen of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Bailey and Samantha Cook; his mother, Leona Phaff, of Excelsior Springs; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Alan Lewellen of Excelsior Springs, Jim Lewellen and his wife, Melody, of Gladstone, Dale Lewellen and his wife, Winnette, of St. Louis, and David Lewellen of Tampa, Fla.; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Burl Griffin and his wife, Donna, of Richmond; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Regina Conner and her husband, Sam, of Sugar Creek, and Robin Hood and her husband, Bob, of Gladstone; father-in-law, Elwyn Griffin, of Richmond; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Thomas Lewellen Memorial Fund.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Richmond American Legion Post #237 and the Richmond VFW Post #4398.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
