Ruth Orscheln, 83, of Richmond, died at 11:04 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2008, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Ruth was born April 23, 1925, in Mount Vernon, Mo., the daughter of Mason and Oma Stump. She married Francis Jewell Orscheln of Kansas City, Mo., on May 13, 1948; he preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1998.
Ruth was a business owner in Ray County, one of them was the Country Club Tavern. She was of the Baptist faith. She lived most of her life in Richmond.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Frank Long and his wife, Karen, of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Shirley Newhouse of Surprise, Ariz.; and one son-in-law, Robert Newhouse of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Tina Tyler, Frank Long, Jr., Anne Steffes, Stephen Newhouse, Lisa Palmer and Laura Palmer; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband: one daughter, Betty McFarland and one brother, Albert Stump, preceded her in death.
The family suggest memorial contribution be made to the American Cancer Society.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2008, at Woodland Cemetery in Richmond.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
