Almus Eugene “Gene” Clevenger, 91. of Cameron formerly of Excelsior Springs, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron.
Gene was born Sept. 8, 1916, in Ray County, the son of Homer Lee and Myrtle Maggie (Covey) Clevenger. He was married to Edith Lilly Payne who preceded him in death on April 10, 2004.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Meredith Turner and her husband, Ray, of Cameron; three grandchildren, Richard Turner and his wife, Debra, of Independence, Cheryl Fenton and her husband, Gene, and Daniel Turner, all of Cameron; four great-grandchildren, Timothy Turner and his wife, Sarah, Michael Turner, Shannon Turner and Holly Fenton; one sister and brother-in-law, Lorena Baker and her husband, Stanley, of Ulman; one niece and nephew.
In addition to his parents and his wife, one brother, Garnett Clevenger, preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Comfort Care Hospice of Cameron or Excelsior Springs Hospice.
No public visitation was planned. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Friday April 11, at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. The Elder Darle Siegel officiated. Military rites were conducted at the graveside.
Arrangements were under the direction of Polley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs.
