Helen L. Brunke, 93, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Liberty Hospital.
Helen was born Feb. 9, 1915, in Colony, Kan., the daughter of Fred E. and Bessie Odella (James) Bruner. She graduated Neosho Falls, Kan. High School in 1932. Helen married Cecil Brunke on March 27, 1935 in Richmond.
Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law: John R. Brunke and his wife, Vera, Kenneth E. Brunke and his wife, Patty, and Larry D. Brunke and his wife, Clara, all of Excelsior Springs; one sister, Mary German and one brother, Richard Bruner, both of Neosho Falls, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Cecil, preceded her in death in 1996.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church Kitchen Fund.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m, Friday, April 4, at the Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the church.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
