Claudia J. Howard, 84, of Richmond, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Howard was born Dec. 1, 1923 in Manchester, England, the daughter of Joseph and Klaudia Applegarth. She married Lester G. Howard of Rozel, Kan., on Oct. 25, 1945; he survives, of the home. Mrs. Howard lived in France before moving to Richmond in 1947.
Other survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Peter Howard of Midland, Texas, and John Howard and his wife, Sheila, of Manhattan, Kan.; two daughters, Mary Ann Rowan of Richmond, and Susie Browne of Kemah, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael Applegarth and his wife, Eva, of Chantaugh, France, and David and Anna Zanier of Paris, France; one sister, Nadia Grenier of Paris, France; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, one brother, Victor Applegarth; and one grandson, Greg Howard, preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital or the American Kidney Foundation.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 20, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 21, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
