Lillis Hughes, 89, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Lexington Care Center.
Mr. Hughes was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Corder, the son of Edward and Mary Agnes “Dolly” Neal Hughes. He married Mary Jean Kopmann on Feb. 16, 1953 in Lexington. Mr. Hughes was a farmer. He was also an Army Veteran of WW II.
Survivors include: one sister and brother-in-law, Morine Lieneke and her husband, Clinton, of Wellington; eight nieces and nephews, 10 great-nieces and nephews, and nine great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Jean, on December 2, 2006; two brothers, Sam and Maurice and two sisters, Katheryn and Louise.
Memorial may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Altar Society.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington. It will also be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, at the church, with Rosary at 10:40 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lexington with Military Rites.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington.
