Ronald Loren Duncan, 79, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Ronald was born June 24, 1928, in Ray County, the son of Franklin and Sarah (O’Dell) Duncan. On July 20, 1947, he married Gladys Louise Jackson. He was a member and Deacon of the Old New Garden Church. He retired from the Excelsior Springs Post Office as the Post Master after 30 years of service.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Gladys Louise Jackson, six children, Donnie Duncan, Carolyn Bethards, Betty Williams, Mary Lancaster, Barry Duncan, and Richie Duncan; two sisters, Ruth Robb and Norma Ellerman; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, two brothers, William and Thomas Duncan, and three sisters, Opal Werle, Frances Werle, and Velma Matthews, preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Old New Garden Church Cemetery Fund in Excelsior Springs.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 17, at the Old New Garden Primitive Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the church. Burial will be in the Old New Garden Cemetery.
