John Irvin Parsons, 80, of Mosby, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Excelsior Springs Care Center and Rehabilitation Center.
John was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Cassville, the son of Henry and Lillian Bryant Parsons. He married Iona Mae Powell on Feb. 29, 1949, at the Mosby Baptist Church; she preceded him in death, Jan. 29, 1975.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, John Garrett Parsons and his wife, Christina, of Excelsior Springs; one daughter, Jandi Gayle Parsons of Excelsior Springs; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Sutton of Mosby and Virginia Due of Excelsior Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, his parents, two brothers, Mitchell Parsons and Bob Parsons, two sisters, Helen Lockamy and Dorothy Hodges, preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the John I. Parsons Memorial Fund, c/o Polley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 271, Excelsior Springs, Mo. 64024.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 14, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 15, at the Mosby Baptist Church in Mosby. Military honors will be conducted at the church following the services. Inurnment will be at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery.
