Betty Joanne Wellman, 63, of Richmond, died at 9:03 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.
Betty was born April 9, 1944 in Norborne, the daughter of Orville and Gladys (Miles) Hawkins. She married Daniel Wellman of Carrollton, on Dec. 19, 1959; he survives of the home.
Betty worked at the Ford Motor Company for 30 years. She had lived in Carrollton before moving to Richmond in 1962. She was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond. Betty was also a member of the U.A.W. Union Local #249 in Claycomo.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Rick G. Wellman and his wife, Tracy, of Parkville; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila R. Hicks and her husband, Jim, of Liberty; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha Brown and her husband, Ken, of Marshall, Marilyn Anderson and her husband, Junior, of Henrietta, Carolyn Woods and her husband, Raymond, of Braymer, Wilma Gardner and her husband, Jim, of Richmond, and Janet Wheeler and her husband, John, of Richmond; five grandchildren, Jewels, Lauren and Madison Wellman, and Devon and Tyler Hicks.
In addition to her parents, one grandson, Jacob Hicks, one nephew, Dwayne Gardner, and one niece, Kenna K. Milligan, preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 13, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
