Mary Maretta “Rita” Hankins Holey, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the Lawson Manor in Lawson.
Mary was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Relsor, Ark., the daughter of Lester and Cora Belle Hampton Adams. She married first, Clovis Hankins and second, William “Bill” Holey.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry James Hankins and his wife, Helen, of Richmond, and Gary Hankins and his wife Marsha, of Henrietta; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Connie Robinette and her husband, Winston, of Kearney, Carol Llewellyn and her husband, Paul, of Excelsior Springs, Cheryl Schimmel of Cowgill, and Carla Strickland of Dover, Ark.; three sisters, Velma Settles of O’Fallon, Faye Dick and Sharon Baughman of Sherman, Texas; four brothers, Hoyle Adams of Russellville, Ark., Arnold Adams of Austin, Texas, Kenneth Adams of Albuquerque, N.M. and Darrell Adams of Texas; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, William Holey, her parents, one son, Timothy Hankins, three brothers, Toy Adams, Donnely Adams and Odell Adams and one sister, Ethel Gunner, preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Hardy Oak Cemetery in Jefferson County, Kan., with burial following.
