Thomas Michael “Tom” Collins, 79, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at Excelsior Springs Medical Center.
Tom was born Dec. 10, 1925, the son of Michael James and Hallie McMullen Collins. He married Martha Ellen Shehan in 1946 in Kansas City, Kan. She preceded him in death in August 1993.
Tom attended Excelsior Springs High School before entering the U.S. Army, serving as a Private. He was honorably discharged Nov. 9, 1949. Following his discharge, he worked for a local hotel and then as a maintenance engineer with Job Corps. In 1976 he went to work for Bank of America until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Collins was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia Llewellyn, of Excelsior Springs; two sons, Jack Collins of Claycomo and Kevin Collins of Blue Springs and his best friend of many years, Lewis Fink.
In addition to his wife, his parents preceded him in death.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Burial will be at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery.
