Wilford (Bill) Nelson Clemens, 84, of Zavalla, Texas, formerly of Kansas City, Mo., and Safford, Ariz., passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 in Conroe, Texas.
Bill was born Jan. 2, 1924 in Rockingham. Bill was a very loving Christian man who enjoyed the adventures of life. He was always exploring with his mind and creating with his hands. He had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, amateur ham radio, rockhounding, creating silver jewelry, tinkering in his shop and just being in the great outdoors. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make up stories to entertain his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had the talent to enjoy and live his life to the fullest.
Bill retired from Funkhouser Machinery Company of Kansas City, Mo., in 1984. After retirement, he and his wife were active in the Airstream Wally Byam Caravan Club.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Betty Jean Hall Clemens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Farmer and her husband, Mike, of Mission, Kan., Connie Holding and her husband, Rick, of Corning, N.Y.; one son and daughter-in-law, Alan Clemens and his wife, Cheryl, of Montgomery, Texas; five grandchildren, Josh Holding and his spouse, Rom Tom, Dr. Julie Holding, Leslie Tripp, Christina Clemens and Benjamin Clemens; three great-grandchildren, Marisa and Sabrina Holding, and Maliyah Tripp; and one brother and sister-in-law, Samuel Clemens and his wife, Patricia, of Sacramento, Calif.
Bill, with his happy smile and congenial personality, will be missed as a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, ‘Big’ Papa, brother, uncle and friend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the fund for children of a niece, the “Roberta H. Miller Children’s Fund,” 5432 Walmer, Mission, Kan. 66202.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church in Norborne. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Norborne.
