J. Dewayne Gardner, 35, of Henrietta, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo.
Dewayne was born April 28, 1972 in Richmond, the son of James P. and Wilma R. (Hawkins) Gardner. Dewayne was a 1990 graduate of Richmond High School. He was a self-employed mechanic and was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge #57 A.F. & A.M and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include: his parents, Jim and Wilma Gardner, of Richmond; two sons, Christopher Morgan Gardner and James Derek Gardner, both of Richmond; one brother and sister-in-law, Tony Gardner and his wife, Brandy, of Richmond; three nephews; and one niece.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Christopher Morgan and James Derek Gardner’s education fund.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond, where Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #237 and Richmond VFW Post #4398.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
