C. Marvin Gill, 69, of Richmond, died on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo.
Marvin was born July 17, 1938 in Richmond, the son of C. Melvin and Lucille (Sheets) Gill. He married Frances O’Dell of Hardin, on Nov. 24, 1956; she survives, of the home.
Marvin was a farmer for over fifty years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He was a lifelong Richmond resident. He had been a member of the Ray County Fair Board for fifteen years. He received the FFA American Farmer Award in 1958.
Additional survivors include: his father, Melvin Gill of Richmond; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen Steward and her husband, Robert, of Gladstone, and Marsha Tyrrell and her husband, David, of Richmond; two grandsons, Tyler Tyrrell and his wife, Jenni, Travis Stewart; two granddaughters, Kayla Tyrrell, and Janna Stewart; and two step great-grandchildren, Haleigh and Riley Cott.
His mother, and a sister, Martha Faye Sharp, preceded him in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hickory Grove Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond.
