Creta LaVaughn Edwards, 84, of Bakersfield, Calif., and formerly of Carrollton, died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 in Bakersfield, Calif.
Mrs. Edwards was born Feb. 24, 1924 in Greeley, Kan. the daughter of Lee and Mattie (Amyx) Nolte. She married Murrell D. Edwards.
Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker, and an accomplished cook and seamstress. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. She lived most of her life in Carrollton and moved to Bakersfield, Calif. in 1969. Nelson Owens, a lifelong friend of Creta’s will be speaking at the funeral.
Survivors include; two sons and daughters-in-law; Dana Edwards and his wife, Lennie, of Austin, Texas, and Mark Edwards and his wife, Lisa, of Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law; Don Nolte and his wife, Fae, of Raymore; one son-in-law, Jim Davenport of Ark.; seven grandchildren, Eric Edwards, Beck Peevey, Jason, Christopher and Alyssa Davenport, and Lauren and Madison Edwards; six great-grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, and Amber Edwards, and Kannon, Kooper, and Kyndal Peevey.
In addition to her parents, her husband and one daughter, Pamela Davenport, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Carrollton. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Carroll County Memory Gardens Cemetery in Carrollton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne.
