James A. Cox, 85, of Lawson, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehab Center in Richmond.
James was born Aug. 3, 1922, the son of Earl and Ida (Nolker) Cox. He married Dorothy Smith on Aug. 25, 1952; she preceded him in death in May 1995. James was a member of the United Christian and Presbyterian Church and the VFW Post #6278.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jim Cox and his wife, Kathy, of Lawson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kramer and her husband, Dan, of Kansas City, Mo. and Judy Harrison and her husband, Don, of Richmond; one brother Lynn Cox of North Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, four step-granddaughters and one great-grandchild.
Besides his parents and wife Dorothy, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and John Henry, and one sister, Irene.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawson Fire & Rescue.
There is no family visitation, however friends may call anytime after noon until 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at the Polley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at the United Christian and Presbyterian Church in Lawson. Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery in Lawson.
