Margie Irene Greer, 76, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at Shirkey Leisure Acres in Richmond.
Irene was born July 29, 1931, the daughter of Alfred and Gladys (Waters) Woods. Irene lived in Ray County her entire life. She ran several small businesses in Orrick and worked at the Liberty Juvenile Center, Lake City, the Ball Clinic, the Telegraph Company and the Missouri School District. Irene loved cooking, canning, taking vacations, weekend car rides, flowers and the fall tree colors. She loved to go to garage sales, the riverboat and was especially happy when the family got together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her parents, sisters, half sisters and a son preceded her in death.
Survivors include: her husband of 58 years, J.W. “Dub” Greer, of the home in Orrick; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Greer and his wife, Linda, of Camden; one daughter and son-in-law, Inga King and her husband, Larry, of Orrick; three granddaughters and their spouses, Jamie Henrich and her husband, Eric, of Orrick, Jenny Blyth and her husband, Jed, of Orrick, Jodi Dugan and her husband, Keith, of Orrick; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy Greer and his wife, Katie, of Camden; five great-grandchildren, Harley Parks, Wesley Henrich, Conner Greer, Ross Greer and Tucker Greer; and her nieces and nephews.
The family suggest memorials be given in Irene’s name to The American Cancer Society at 6700 Antioch Rd. Ste. 100, Merriam, Kan. 66205.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at the Gowing Chapel in Orrick with Dr. Clay Kahler officiating. Musical selections will be given by Mr. Clinton Easley, pianist. Burial will be in South Point Cemetery in Orrick.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gowing Funeral Chapel in Orrick.
