Thomas Lewis Gilmore, 81, of Lawson, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at his home.
He was born March 2, 1926 in Monett, the son of Carl and Mable(Greenway) Gilmore. On July 10, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, he married Billie Jean Jones, who survives of the home.
Mr. Gilmore was retired from Consolidated Freightways. He was a member of the Lawson Baptist Church for 35 years where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include: four daughters, Linda Hill of Garden City, Joyce Walters of Spring Hill, Kan., Karen Montavy of Grain Valley, and Janice Jones of Independence; one son, Lewis Gene Gilmore of Lawson; two sisters, Margaret Robison of Kansas City and Mandy Ellen Ball of Aurora; three brothers, David Gilmore, Lloyd Gilmore and
George Gilmore, all of Verona; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; one sister, Lilly Bell Zinc, and one brother, Robert Gilmore, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at 7 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Lawson. Burial will be at a later date at Polley Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
