Jamie Dean McElwee, 29, of Richmond, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Ray County.
Jamie Dean was born Nov. 12, 1977 in Chillicothe, the son of Eddie Dean and Donna Sue (McElwee) McElwee. He married Jennifer J. Thomas of Richmond, on Nov. 4, 2004; she survives, of the home.
Jamie Dean graduated from Richmond High School in 1997. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating where he had been stationed in Camp Pendleton, Calif. and in North Carolina. He was a mechanic for Cross Midwest Tire in Kansas City, Mo. He was of the Christian faith. He had lived most of his life in the Richmond area.
Survivors include: one son, Jesse McElwee of the home; one step-daughter, Jenna Thomas of the home; two brothers and one sister-in-law, James LeRoy McElwee and his wife, Pega, of Camden, and Michael Waterman of Chillicothe; two sisters, Katrina McElwee of S. D. and Sarah Waterman of Chillicothe; his foster parents, Claude and Cindy Vanover of Richmond; Bill Poss of Richmond, and Nona Isham of Camden; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Kathy Thomas of Polo.
His parents preceded him in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jamie Dean McElwee Memorial Fund c/o Thurman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 190, Richmond, Mo. 64085.
Graveside Services will be Thursday, Nov. 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cowgill Cemetery in Cowgill, where military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post #237 and Richmond V.F.W. Post #4398.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
