Harrold E. “Gene” Roberts, 67, of Richmond, died at 8:10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at his home.
Harrold “Gene” was born Dec. 10, 1939 in Braymer, the son of Everett P. and Verna E. (McElwee) Roberts. He married Donna S. Staton of Carrollton, on July 2, 1964. Harrold “Gene” worked at the General Motors–Leed’s Plant for 26 years before retiring in 1990. He had also worked at Wal-Mart in Richmond. He was a 1957 graduate of Stet High School. He was a member of the U.A.W. Union #93. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Donna, of the home; one son, Keith Roberts, of Ionia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Maria Engler and her husband, Mark, of Mount Vernon, and Denise Roberts and her friend, Jesse Smith, of Ionia; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Floyd Roberts and his wife, Sue, of Lee’s Summit, and Donald Roberts and his wife, Shirley, of Richmond; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Viola Farris and her husband, Marshal, of Richmond, and Judy Bruno and her husband, Dale, of Raymore; two grandchildren, Brent Engler and his wife, Sara, and Joshua Engler; one great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Lynn Engler; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family’s choice.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Black Oak Cemetery, near Braymer.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
