Helen I. Chapman, 83, of Richmond, passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Helen was born on Jan. 1, 1924 in Ray County, the daughter of Arthur and Bertha (Sperbeck) Love. She married Robert “Bob” Dudley Chapman of Henrietta, on Nov. 12, 1947.
Helen was a self-employed beautician. She had also worked as a waitress at several different restaurants in Richmond. She was a member of the Ray County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Richmond United Christian Presbyterian Church. She was a lifelong Ray County resident.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dudley W. Chapman and his wife, Paula S., of Lenexa, Kan.; two brothers, Kenneth Love of Polo, and Jewell Love of Beaver, Wash.; one sister, Delores Rogers of Richmond; and one granddaughter, Courtney N. Chapman.
Her husband, Bob, who passed away on Aug. 2, 2006; her parents; three brothers, Gene, Duane and Donald Love, and three sisters, Dorothy Bice, Joyce DeMarais and Wanda Arney, preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond United Christian Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sunny Slope Cemetery in Richmond.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
