Francis E. Curran, 86, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, in Ohio.
Francis was a resident at St. Leonard’s Senior Center in Centerville, Ohio since Nov. 1993 and was formerly of Westerville, Ohio. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as Lt. Colonel in Oct. 1966 and from General Tire Sales in Columbus, Ohio in Oct. 1985. Fritz was stationed at Hickman Army Air Force Base, T.H. (next door to “Pearl Harbor” on Dec. 7, 1941. He returned to the West Coast in Feb. 1942 for pilot training, graduating in Sept. 1942 as Staff Sergeant Pilot. He spent most of his career as a Transport Pilot with additional duties in operations, supply, logistics and procurement. Retiring from the Defense Construction Supply Center in Columbus, Ohio, where he was chief, Non-FSN Procurement for three years. He was a lifetime member of the Army Air Corps Enlisted Pilots Association and the St. Leonard’s Knights of Columbus Chapter 10215.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 65 years, Grace D. (Domann) Curran; three sons and daughters-in-law, Francis E. Curran II and his wife, Suzanne, of Hammondsport, N.Y., Michael L. Curran and his wife, Barbara A., of Lyndhurst, Ohio, and Patrick J. Curran and his wife, Lynne, of Chardon, Ohio; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne Schmidt and her husband, James, of Richmond, Margaret L. Martin and her husband, Jimmie, of Vista, Calif., Elizabeth Metherd and her husband, Dr. Warren, of Sharonville, Ohio, and Mary Davis and her husband, Rev. Steven, of Bowling Green, Ohio; nineteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Betty Curran White, of Overland Park, Kan., and Helen Curran, of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 with Rosary at 6 p.m., at the Routsong Funeral Home in Centerville, Ohio. There will also be a Rosary on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Leonard’s Chapel in Centerville, Ohio. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel, following the Rosary, with Father Marne officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
