Charles D. “CD” Lewis, Jr., 78, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 in his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1928 in Brunswick, the son of Charles D. and Agnes C. (Meyer) Lewis, Sr. On April 13, 1951 in Council Bluffs, Iowa he married Nina Lou Rowland.
“CD” was a veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from K.W. Dart in Kansas City. He loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows at Richmond and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include: his wife Nina, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Leslie and her husband, Kenneth, of Richmond; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael Lewis and his wife, Pamela, and Donald Lewis, of Richmond; one brother, Donald Lewis of Excelsior Springs; four sisters, Helen Bullock and Ruth Matheson of Kansas City, Virginia Frazier of Andalusia, Ala., and Mary Katherine Sawyer of Broken Bow, Okla.; six grandchildren and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His parents and an infant son, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Polley Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery in Richmond with military honors.
