Henrietta Seely, 96, of Liberty, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Liberty Hospital
Henrietta was born Oct. 10, 1910 in Ray County, the daughter of Patrick H. and Martha Elizabeth Duncan Smith. She was reared in the Ray County and Excelsior Springs area. On June 15, 1927, in Excelsior Springs, she married Harvey F. Seely. In 1939, they moved to Liberty, where she has lived for the past 68 years. Mrs. Seely worked as a receptionist for Mr. Frank Miller, a local insurance and property developer, for 18 years, retiring in 1985. She was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge and a member of Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Harvey Seely and his wife, Susi, of Liberty; one daughter, Norma James, of Liberty; nine grandchildren, Brenda Stevenson of Liberty, Marvin James of Liberty, Cindy Seely of Excelsior Springs, Mindy Purcell of Pueblo, Colo., Sheri Watkins of Hardin, Cathy Helton of Pueblo, Colo., Julie Kramer of Richmond, Jennifer Seely of Kansas City, Mo., and Monty Seely of Liberty; 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents, six brothers and five sisters, as well as an infant son, William Francis and her husband Harvey F. Seely, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends in the Assembly Room at the Second Baptist Church in Liberty, Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2007 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at the church. Mrs. Seely’s will be buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs following the memorial service.
