Shelby Gene Graves, 67, of Hardy, Ark., formerly of Orrick, passed away Friday Aug. 24, 2007, at North Kansas City Hospital.
Born Jan, 25, 1940 in Saffell, Ark., he was the son of Lloyd C. and Freda (Gardner) Graves. On Aug. 29, 1958 in Benton Harbor, Mich. He was married to Annette Taylor and to this marriage one daughter was born.
Mr. Graves was self-employed as a carpenter and, at one time, owned and operated Graves Construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing pool, and had been a past member of Kansas City Carpenter’s Union Local 43.
Survivors include: his daughter and son in-law, Janet Millsap and husband, Mike; one grandson, Tony Millsap; two brothers and sisters in-law, Kelly Graves and wife JoAnn of Salem, Ark.; and Aubrey Graves and wife Tonya of Orrick; one sister, Etta May Major of Thayer; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents and one brother, Eugene Graves, preceded him in death.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, with the family receiving friends at Polley Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Monday Aug. 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in Southpoint Cemetery in Orrick.
Arrangements were under the direction of Polley Funeral Home.
