Jay L. Hawkins, 69, of Lee’s Summit, passed away Aug. 19, 2007 at his home in Wellington.
Jay was born Sept. 18, 1937 in Cumi Ark., to James “Frank” Hawkins and Linnie E. (Jenkins) Hawkins. He and his wife, Faye, were married on April 10, 1959 in Atoka, Okla. He was self-employed and owned “Jays” Concrete Construction and Excavation, retiring in 1998.
Survivors include: his wife, Faye of the home; son and daughter in-law, Jason and Angie Hawkins of Macomb, Ill.; daughter and son in-law, Robbin and Rob Craddock of Lee’s Summit; son in-law, Roy Gibson of Wellington; two sisters, Hazel Jean McKinney of Henderson, Nev.; and Nona Ferrio of Lexington; and 8 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, his daughter, Audrey Gibson, preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Odessa Church of Christ or to Kansas City Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007 at the Odessa Church of Christ. The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007 at the Odessa Church of Christ with Rev. Greg Ziegler officiating. Burial will be at 3:45 p.m., Thursday at Wellington City Cemetery.
