Judge Charles Sloan, 82, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007 in Panama City, Fla.
He was born Oct. 22, 1924 in Kansas City, Mo. to Charles H. and Evelina (Utz) Sloan. He married Mary Creel Farris of Richmond in 1949.
Survivors include: one son and daughter in-law, Tim Sloan and wife, Maggie; and his grandchildren, Russell, Mary Margaret and Timothy Sloan of Panama City, Fla.
His parents, wife, one brother, Eugene Sloan, and two stepbrothers, Eugene and Theodore Paulsen preceded him in death.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII before graduating from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law in 1951. He practiced law in Richmond, Missouri for 25 years. He lived in Richmond before moving to Florida five years ago.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Covenant Hospice, Attn: Donations in Memory of The Honorable Charles H. Sloan, 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Fla. 32504.
The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 with visitation to follow from 7 to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. A Funeral Mass service will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007. Internment will follow at Richmond Memory Gardens where Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #237 and Richmond VFW Post #4398.
