George W. Waldroup, 76, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Friday Aug. 10, 2007 at his home.
George was born on March 2, 1931 in Haysville, N.C., the son of Don and Lilly Waldroup. He married Bettie Hightower on July 1, 1983. Waldroup served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
He worked for Ford in Claycomo, as a pipe fitter until his retirement in 1992.
Survivors include: his wife Bettie Waldroup of the home, six children, Georgia Mora of Irving, Texas; Karen Waldroup of North Richland Hills, Texas; Shannon Snow of Liberty; Laurie Waldroup of Kansas City, Kan.; Linda Waldroup of Clarksville, Texas; Lanetta Waldroup of Kansas City, Mo.; four stepchildren, Gale Johnson of Mesquite, Texas; Linda House of Seagoville, Texas; Kevin Hallmark of Excelsior Springs; and Garnetta Wood of Clarksville, Tenn.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His parents, son Phillip Glenn Waldroup, and stepsons Kerwin Hallmark and Dale Moffett preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday Aug. 14, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday Aug. 15, 2007 at Polley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
