Henry Schwarz, 86, of Lawson, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2007 in Excelsior Springs Medical Center.
Born January 4, 1921 in Gashland, he was the son of Arnold J. and Emily (Jacks) Schwarz. On June 14, 1941 in Kansas City, Kans., he was married to Mary Ann Lewis. Mr. Schwarz was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army. He was a farmer and cattleman for many years. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #3917 for 24 years, Elks Lodge #1001 and the American Legion Post #236, of Excelsior Springs. He served on the Special Road District, Lawson School Board and was past president of the Lawson Swim Club. He was well known in the area as a trader whose many loyal customers knew him for his fair and honest dealings. His life was devoted to his family and farm.
Survivors include: His wife Mary Ann; four sons, Mike Schwarz & wife Tess of Liberty; Steve Schwarz & wife Jana of Excelsior Springs; Dave Schwarz & fiancé, Karen Talbott of Lawson; Hank Schwarz & wife Sharon of Omaha, Neb.; daughter, Linda Jones & husband, Joe of Lawson; sister, Edna Green of Excelsior Springs; 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Frank Schwarz and a great-granddaughter, Megan Jones, preceded him in death.
The family has suggested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Polley Funeral Home in Lawson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawson Cemetery with military honors.
