Carl Elvin Snider, 87, of Excelsior Springs, passed away July 29, 2007 at his home.
Born Feb. 24, 1920 in Ray County, he was the son of Elmer and Gladys (Transue) Snider. On June 3, 1941 in Independence he married Marjorie Frances Hankins.
Carl was a veteran of World War II having served as an Army Engineer. He was self-employed for many years as an electrical contractor. He was always busy as a handyman and in the past had made neon signs, including his own neon sign. He was a member of the Old Geezers Club, the Kiwanis and the Elks Lodge #1001 where he had served as past-exalted ruler. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended Flack Memorial Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie; three sons, Max Snider and wife Caren of Melbourne, Fla., Ron Snider and wife Jane of Kansas City, Mo. and Jerry Snider and partner Larry Chavis of Excelsior Springs; two grandchildren, Terri Hamilton & Susan Shiparo; 2 great-grandchildren, Abigail & T.J. Shiparo; two sisters, Imogene Ogg & Joann Lewis, of Richmond and several nieces & nephews.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
The family has suggested memorials to the Old Geezers Club or the Flack Memorial Building Fund.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery. The Elks Lodge #1001 will also conduct services at the graveside.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
