Mary Edith Baker, 86, of Lawson, died at 3:30 p.m. on July 23, 2007 at the Center Point Hospital in Independence.
Edith was born on Feb. 25, 1921 in Converse, to John and Faithful (McQuerrey) Allen.
She married Elvin George Baker of Lathrop on July 24, 1938; he preceded her in death in May of 1983.
In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother, Edith had worked as a cook at the Lawson school for a number of years, was employed at the Excelsior Springs Laundry and completed her working career at Avsco Plastics in Excelsior Springs, until her retirement in 1991. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Lawson Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons Don Robert (Sharon) Baker of Richmond, and John Robinson (Margie) Baker of Lawson; one daughter-in-law Judy Baker of Excelsior Springs; one sister, Gladys Trigg of Palm Beach, Fla.; one brother-in-law Delbert King of Lawson; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: two sons, Richard Allen Baker and George Baker; and one sister Mildred King.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 25, 2007 at the funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday July 26, 2007 at the Polley Funeral Home Lawson at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Lawson Cemetery Lawson.
Services are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home in Lawson.
