Leo J. “Butch” Meredith Jr, 58, Excelsior Springs, passed away Thursday June 7, 2007 at the Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Butch was born on May 1, 1949 in Louisville, Ky. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Butch was a graduate of the University of Louisville and received his Master’s Degree from Friends University. He was the General Manager for Gilmore Manufacturing for nearly 30 years. He was a life member of the VFW #741 in Excelsior Springs.
Survivors include: two sisters, Judith Meredith of Little Sisters of the Poor Indianapolis, Ind., and Jani Wooldridge and her husband, Robert Sr. of Louisville, Ky.; his life partner, Brenda Spicer of the home; two nephews, Robert Wooldridge Jr. and Patrick Wooldridge, both of Louisville, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, with military honors at 5 p.m.
Everyone is invited to share in a toast to Butch at Goodtimes in Excelsior Springs from 6 to 7 p.m. also on Thursday.
On June 21, 2007 a wake service will be held at the St. Joseph Home of Little Sisters of the Poor in Louisville, Ky.
A funeral mass at the home chapel will be held on June 22.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, Ky.
A memorial brick will be placed at the Veterans Memorial in Butch’s memory.
Services are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
