Elsie J. Foose, 76, of Lexington, died at 1:38 a.m., June 4, 2007, at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence.
Mrs. Foose was born March 31, 1931 in Buffalo, to George and Susie (Southard) Gamel. She married Nelson Foose of Waverly, on Dec. 31, 1968; he preceded her in death on May 26, 1988.
Mrs. Foose was a postal clerk at the Richmond U.S. Postal Office from 1968 to 1993. She lived most of her life in Ray County, before moving to Lexington one year ago. She was a member of the Morton Baptist Church, Hardin.
Survivors include: her mother, Susie Gamel of Odessa; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kay Foose of Higginsville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Georgia and Jack Hurley of Odessa, Anna and Cliff Davis of Belton, and Bonnie and Bob Briggle of Lexington; one brother, Glen Gamel of Kansas City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Leland Ray Williams.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be Friday, June 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond.
Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 8, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Hardin Cemetery.
