John Wallace Reffitt Jr. 71, Lawson, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2007 at his home.
John was born on Dec. 16, 1935 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of John William Reffitt Sr. and Ida Elizabeth Helms. He was married to Betty Lou Frames; she preceded him in death in 1971. John served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a Concrete finisher. He was a member of the Concrete Finisher Union and the Kingston AA.
Survivors include: six sons, John Earl Reffitt of Excelsior Springs, Larry Dewayne Reffitt of Excelsior Springs, Cameron Neal Reffitt of Excelsior Springs, Norman Eddie Reffitt of Orrick, Burton Wallace Reffitt of Excelsior Springs, Daryl Kenneth William Reffit of Iowa; two daughters, Donna Renea Jeffers of Lawson, and Michelle Ellen Marie O’Brien of Iowa; one step-son, Michael Collier of Iowa; one brother, Frank Reffitt of Minn.; two half-brothers, Edward and George Beggs of Kansas City, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rosemary Elizabeth Brower.
Memorial contributions may be given to the John Wallace Reffitt Jr. Memorial fund c/o the funeral home.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 30, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Salem Cemetery Excelsior Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
