Donald Kent Blyth, 86, of Orrick passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Liberty Hospital.
Donald was born on Nov. 5, 1920, the son of Ulvin Gordon Blyth and May Wholf in rural Orrick. He was a lifelong resident of Ray County.
On Nov. 30, 1940, Donald married Opal Sharp. Donald was a member of Fleming Baptist Church. He worked 40 years for Santa Fe Railroad. Donald was a member of the U.S. Army.
Donald is survived by: his wife, Opal Blyth, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Keith Blyth and his wife, Linda, Jackie Darwin Blyth and his wife, Mary and Ulvin Gordon Blyth and his wife, Brenda, all of Orrick; two daughters and one son-in-law, Alice Mae O’Dell and her husband, Jim of Fla., and Martha Jean Martin of Independence; 7 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Danny Kent Blyth.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007, at Gowing Chapel.
Burial will be in South Point Cemetery in Orrick.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick.
