Emma “Bernice” Owens, 93, Excelsior Springs, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007 at her home.
Bernice was born on June 3, 1913 in Excelsior Springs, the daughter of John and Erna (Lana) Humbard. She was united in marriage to Charles E. Owens on Dec. 25, 1930 in Richmond; he preceded her in death on April 12, 1996. Bernice was a member of the Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, watching her birds and collecting rocks. She had a great “Green Thumb”.
Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey Lodwick and her husband David of Excelsior Springs, and Eileen Chole and her husband, Bert of Orlando, Fla.; dear friends, Bill and Donna Shenberger of Excelsior Springs; 7 grandchildren and their spouses; 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

There is no scheduled visitation; however friends may call anytime between the hours of noon and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at the Hillcrest Cemetery Excelsior Springs.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Excelsior Springs Hospital Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Services are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
