Elizabeth Ann Gardner, 80, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2007, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs.
Elizabeth “Liz” was born Jan. 2, 1927 in Lexington, the daughter of John and Mary Elizabeth Lankford Edwards. She married Carl Spencer; he preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1961 and she later married Wallace Gardner; he also preceded her in death on March 15, 1979.
Liz was a member of the Lexington First Baptist Church and also the Women of the Moose and the VFW Auxiliary. She worked in the packing section at Lake City Munitions Plant for several years before retirement.
She is survived by: three children, Elizabeth Diana Peterson and her husband, Darrell, Chesterfield, Va., Carl Spencer, Jr. and his wife, Grace, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kenneth Spencer and his wife, Jonna, Hardin; a sister, Mary L. Lieneke, Wellington; a brother and sister-in-law, John R. Edwards and his wife, Mary Lou, Bella Vista, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by: her parents; a son John Edward Spencer; an infant great-grandson; and a sister, Betty Kolstadt.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 28, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Machpelah Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington.
